Using Peninsula Living Online

What is Peninsula Living Online?

Peninsula Living Online is a search engine directory specific to the Northern Beaches. 99.5% of business listings will be from within the Manly, Warringah and Pittwater shires. In Peninsula Living Online you won’t have to sift your way through businesses from outside the area or navigate through flashy promotions, irrelevant to your needs. We are all about LOCAL bringing local consumers in contact with local business.

How do I use Peninsula Living Online?

You can use Peninsula Living Online to find a local business or to find information relevant to a topic or industry. To find a business simply click on the business category and a suburb. If you wish to be more specific use the keywords function.

If you want to research that deck you intend to install, a new kitchen or landscaping ideas then go to our article directory. Search by article category or keywords. We’ll not only provide you with relevant high quality articles but you can click through to a business that will meet your needs.

It’s so simple and it’s truly local.

How does the search function work?

Search by category?

You can search by business category or article category

Click the arrow on the What box. Choose a category you wish to search. Categories are in alphabetical order so you can type the first letter to quickly focus in on your area of interest. Select your category

For a business search repeat the process in the Where box to select a suburb or region then hit enter

Search by Keyword?

You can search by category AND keywords or ONLY by keywords

To search by category AND keywords

Follow the steps outlined previously. To narrow your search further enter some keywords. The search will look within the category selected and display those results that match the keywords.

To search by keywords ONLY

Leave the category box as ALL

Enter your keywords and hit enter.

Results displayed will be any business that match the keyword criteria.

To narrow your search further you can enter a suburb or region

My search results aren’t exactly what I’m looking for, why is this?

Using keywords can return business listings or article listings from a range of categories. For example searching on keywords “energy efficient” could generate results from business categories electrician, solar or kitchens. To narrow your results include a category, more keywords or be more specific.

Using multiple keywords will give you better results. The results listed will be in order of relevance with those matching all keywords appearing first and those matching only one keyword or ONLY the category selected appearing last.

Why aren’t there any businesses matched to my search?

  • Misspelt words is a common reason why no results come up
  • Your keywords may not match any businesses or articles. Try using alternative or more common words and phrases.
  • Peninsula Living Online is constantly being update with new business listings however our database is not exhaustive so on occasion we may not have a local business that you are looking for.

Why don’t my results match the location I entered?

Peninsula Living Online attempts to match your search location however if there are no businesses found in this location our database search is expanded to include the shire and then the rest of the Northern Beaches.

Sometimes the same business comes up more than once, why is this?

This can happen when you are searching by keywords. When searching on keywords the business listing and any associated Secondary Articles are searched and hence both may appear in search results.

What are Secondary Articles?

Businesses are encouraged to provide comprehensive information specific to various parts of their business. This allows the online user to click and read about these services and products if of interest. The Secondary articles are found in the right margin of the businesses listing.

Why is a free listing above a paid listing?

Peninsula Living Online attempts to provide the online user with the most relevant search results. This means that when searching by keywords and / or suburb unpaid listings will appear before paid listings if they are deemed to be more relevant.
