Newport Community Centre 11-13 The Boulevarde, Newport, NSW, 2106, Pittwater, Sydney, Northern Beaches
Located on the Northern Beaches and easily accessible to the Manly, Warringah, Pittwater and North Shore areas, Umbrella Studios run many programs for children including school holiday programs, children’s birthday parties, after school programs and Mum’s & Bub’s classes.
The programs include activities such as theatre classes, drama classes, acting classes, dancing classes, dress ups and much more.
Director of Performing Arts at Umbrella Studios, Megan Hanley, has 25 years experience in teaching dance classes, choreography classes and artistic direction. She also has 20 years experience in theatre stage production.
Umbrella Studios accept children (aged pre school to 12 years) into classes at any stage in their development, to help them enhance their love of acting, performing, theatre and/ or drama, no matter what their abilities.
Along the way, they’ll be coached by Megan’s team of local and internationally renowned performing artists and tutors, including New Zealand mime artist Fergus Aitken, who also runs classes in juggling, balancing, robotics and comic pantomime theatre skills.
A two-hour, non-stop party featuring games, story telling, dance routines and a theme taken from a wide range of choices, parties allow kids to spend their birthday acting out their favourite characters in costumes provided by Umbrella Studios - enjoy Newport Community Centre’s colourful playground and use of a full kitchenette for catering.
Full and part-time performing arts classes are held over school holiday periods, with tutors taking kids through mime classes, dance classes, drama classes, acting classes, music classes, acrobatics classes, gymnastic classes and vocal production.
Based at Newport Community Centre, these classes allow Mum to enjoy drama-free stretch classes while kids are taken care of with pantomime-theatre dance and dress-up classes and infants join a supervised playgroup. The stretch classes feature yoga, dance stretches and floor work, designed specifically for new mums or those who haven’t been able to exercise for a while.
These classes are organised through individual schools, and both programs are held in the school’s assembly hall. Onsite Schools Classes run for Kindy to Year 3 and fit well within the Primary School extra curriculum studies, while After School Classes are taught as open age classes once a week and run from 3 – 4.30pm. Students involved in the classes work toward an assembly performance, building confidence and self-esteem.
