An orthodontist will generally treat these irregularities with braces, which when attached to the teeth will gently and slowly allow them to adopt different positions. Braces treatment ultimately improves the function of the teeth and jaws, and the general appearance of the person facially.

The average age for children to be ready for treatment is 13 years of age although an initial assessment can begin as early as 7 years of age to determine potential problems. The best time for most treatment with braces to commence is during the pubertal growth spurt. Invisalign is the invisible way to straighten crooked teeth and close gaps between teeth using a series of custom-made, nearly undetectable plastic aligners. In many cases, Invisalign can replace traditional metal-wire braces that have long been used in traditional orthodontic practice.
Using advanced 3-D computer-imaging technology, Invisalign depicts your complete treatment plan based on the orthodontist’s prescription, from the initial position of your teeth to the final desired position. This allows you to see what your straight teeth will look like before treatment has even begun!
A series of clear aligners are custom-made for your teeth to move them little by little. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks before being replaced by the next in the series, until the final position of your teeth is achieved.
Invisalign has also developed a product for teenagers, Invisalign Teen, which uses the same technology as used for adult aligners with a few special additional features.

Dr Douglas Williment, Orthodontist
Dr Williment achieved his Bachelor of Science Degree in Dentistry at the University of Queensland in 1983. He then worked as a general dental practitioner in Coonamble, country NSW, before accepting a placement at Loyola University, Chicago, USA, to specialise in the field of Orthodontics. Doug opened Williment Orthodontics in Mona Vale in 1993.
Dr Mark Kebsch, Orthodontist
Dr Kebsch graduated with Honours in both Bachelor and Master's degrees from the University of Sydney, having been the first person to be awarded Honours for a Master of Dental Science degree by an Australian University. He has also received several awards from overseas universities for his work in the field of orthodontics. Mark lectures as an Honorary Clinical Associate in The Discipline of Orthodontics at the University of Sydney where he teaches post-graduate orthodontic students.
